Home Companion Solutions is a division of The Nurse Agency, a company founded in 2001 by Penny Golden, RN, Steven Golden and Ann Weist. As a former geriatric nurse, Penny found that she missed the direct patient care she provided when she was a staff nurse at Rush University Medical Center, so she recently began working as a Nurse Care Manager for a few geriatric clients. She noticed the great need her clients had for extra help around the home to supplement the home nursing care they were receiving. Many of her patients and their families were facing the difficult decision between staying in their home and the high cost of moving to a long term care facility.
Penny knew that the personal, caring business model she, Steve and Ann created for The Nurse Agency would work well for a companion business. They started working on creating a division of The Nurse Agency that would offer companion care to local area residents. Home Companion Solutions was created to offer clients compassionate, reliable care at a reasonable fee.

Penny Golden, RN, President, DON has been a Registered Nurse for over twenty years. Her previous hospital experience includes working as a Geriatric Psychiatric nurse at two local hospitals. She also worked for five years as the Manager of Nursing Services at a local agency and currently works as a Nurse Care Manager for a local home care business. Penny is our contact person for new client assessments, companion supervision and customer complaints. She is also responsible for the interviewing, hiring and initial training of all companion employees. Penny received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from North Park University.
Ann Weist, Vice President, Supervisor has worked in the health care industry for fifteen years coordinating staff schedules and cultivating strong relationships with hospitals and health care providers. She started as a staffing coordinator at a local agency and worked her way up to the Director of Staffing position. She is the contact person for new client intake requests, companion schedules, employee Quality Control and credential management and website management. Ann received her Master of Arts Degree in Consumer/Industrial Research Psychology from Cleveland State University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Toledo.
Steven Golden, Secretary, Supervisor has spent his almost twenty year career working exclusively in the supplemental staffing industry in both staffing and office manager positions. He worked his way up from a staffing coordinator position to holding the title of Director of Business Operations at an area staffing agency. Steve is our contact person for all payroll, invoicing, workers' compensation, benefits and budgeting issues. He is responsible for all financial aspects of the office and maintains all business licenses and insurance requirements. Steve received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Loyola University.
